Best Kept Secret

This is an image of W4050, the prototype Mosquito, flying over Salisbury Hall on its maiden flight, where it was designed and built in great secrecy during WW11. The Mosquito was unique in its construction of mostly laminated wood, thus reducing demand on the already overstretched metal working industries. Its low weight combined with two Merlin engines made it the fastest aircraft of its time.
