First Aerobatics

This is a picture of a de Havilland Chipmunk aircraft built by de Havilland of Canada, the particular aircraft is one I think I have flown in as an ATC cadet at RAF Manston, Kent. This was the location of No 1 Air Experience Flight specifically tasked with providing air experience flights for the ATC, and CCF. (Air Training Corps and Combined Cadet Force). The image shows the Chipmunk in a roll which was one of the basic aerobatic experiences enjoyed by cadets. RAF Manston a MDS (Master Diversion Station) has one of the longest runways in the country and in the event of an emergency landing, would often be used by larger aircraft to divert to.
