Some Days Are Diamonds

This is the second image of the Spartan 7 aircraft constructed in the USA in the 30’s, This picture originally sketched at the 2013 Panshanger Revival Day was painted in 2014 and submitted with two other paintings, one of which was another of the same aircraft, for the Guild of Aviation Artists 2014 ‘Best Aviation Paintings of the Year’ exhibition at the Pall Mall Galleries. The title is taken from a John Denver song and was perfect for not only the aircraft but a wonderful Summers day spent at Panshanger Airfield near Potters Bar, Hertfordshire. The main attraction in painting the aircraft twice was the amazing polished finish of the fuselage and wings, plus the immaculate paint job on the engine cowling etc.  In all I was pleased with both gouache paintings and look forward to tackling other subjects of a similar nature.

This framed painting is for sale for £340.00 and a picture showing it framed can be seen on the GAVA website in the 2014 Exhibition Gallery. www.gava.org.uk

‘Some Days are Diamonds’ was accepted for the 2014 Guild of Aviation Artists Summer Exhibition at the Pall Mall Galleries London
